Floods keep local police busy

LOCAL police have been kept busy during flooding in recent days, helping people stranded in vehicles in floodwater and rescuing three children founds swimming in floodwaters on Grand Canal Drive, Sale.

Police are also in the process of preparing a report for the coroner after a male was located deceased in floodwaters at Woodside.

The man, aged in his 60s, was found dead in floodwaters last Thursday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Starlings Lane about 1.45pm after a resident notified them of a vehicle almost submerged in floodwaters.

A rescue team recovered the man’s body.

Playing a supporting role to the lead agency the SES, police have been working collaboratively with other emergency services and support agencies in regional and incident control centres.

They have also been kept busy helping to establish road blocks across flooded roads.
