Fury over boxing glove theft

The smashed display case from which the boxing glove was taken.

A signed Tyson Fury red boxing glove is missing after thieves targeted a frame holding the glove at a boxing event in Sale earlier this month.

On Saturday, December 4, about 450 people were attending a Victorian Amateur Boxing League event at Sale Memorial Hall, where a large display case containing the glove was on show.

Police said at some stage during the event, offenders removed the display case.

It was found the following day in a janitor’s closet.

The front had been smashed, and the signed boxing glove removed.

Police said the display case — about a metre high, 40 centimetres wide and 20cm thick — would not have been not easy to hide or walk around with, so someone may have noticed it being removed.

People with information are being urged to phone First Constable Josh Benson at Sale police station on 5142 2200, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
