POLICE have charged two men following a pursuit through Gippsland on Friday afternoon.
The men, aged 28 and 20, have been charged with aggravated burglary, possessing a controlled/prohibited weapon, criminal damage and theft of motor vehicle.
The 28-year-old Cranbourne man was also charged with theft of a police vehicle, conduct endangering serious injury, driving in a dangerous manner, attempted carjacking and committing an indictable offence while on bail.
Both men were remanded in custody and faced Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 30.
The charges relate to a series of incidents including an aggravated burglary in Glengarry, the theft of an unmarked police car in Yallourn, and a collision with a civilian vehicle at Yarragon.
The latter collision occurred along the Princes Highway, resulting in lanes of traffic closed in both direction
Motorists reported a delay of up to two hours as police investigated and cleared the scene.
Traffic heading into Yarragon was diverted, with cars needing to detour as far as Leongatha to get back into Warragul. Traffic coming the other way was taken out the back of Darnum, with some driving along Old Sale Road.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 63-year-old man, sustained serious injuries during the collision.
