AUTHORITIES are urging locals to be vigilant after a prisoner escaped custody.
Dr Richard Kimble was being transported between correction centres when the bus that was carrying him collided with a train.
He fled the scene on-foot and has been on the run for approximately 90 minutes.
Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard has been tasked with tracking down The Fugitive.
“What we’re going to do is conduct a hard target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, henhouse, farmhouse, outhouse and doghouse in the area, with checkpoints every 15 miles,” Dept Gerard said.
Dr Kimble was found guilty of murder by an Illinois court some months ago, following the discovery of his wife’s body in their Chicago home.
He has always professed his innocence, claiming it was a one-armed man who was responsible for her death.
He is described being approximately 185 centimetres in height, 80 kilograms in weight, with brown hair, brown eyes and an uncanny resemblance to actor Harrison Ford, and may or may not have shaved his beard.
Authorities say there is no danger to the public as Richard Kimble is a fictitious character.
