A NEW GP clinic has opened its doors in Maffra.
Maffra Medical Centre offers comprehensive medical services, focusing on improving the health and wellbeing of the ageing population.
The new clinic – operated by Sale Medical Centre – will help patients be independent. It will ensure they can live comfortably in their homes for as long as possible.
Their focus on the aging population aligns with the Wellington Shire report on Maffra. It identified the need for improved healthcare services for the elderly in the area. They face significant challenges: access to medical services, social isolation, and mental health concerns.
The new clinic will provide services to address these challenges, including general consultations, chronic disease management, and mental health support. The clinic will also offer home visits for patients who are unable to travel to the clinic and visit residents of nearby Stretton Park aged care.
“We are delighted to open a new GP clinic in Maffra. It will cater specifically to the needs of our ageing population,” clinic founder Dr lain Nicolson said.
“We understand the challenges faced by the elderly in our community. We aim to provide the highest quality of care to help them maintain their independence and live comfortably in their homes.”
The regular GP service will be supported by a full-time nurse, and will work to include a range of allied health services, including physiotherapy, podiatry, and dietetics. These will be delivered working alongside local healthcare providers.
“We believe this collaboration is essential to achieving the best healthcare for our patients,” Dr Nicolson said.
In addition to supporting aged care, the new clinic is open to all new patients, and offers bulk billing to children under 16 years of age.
Maffra Medical Centre is now open and conveniently located at 140 Johnson Street.
