THREE vehicles from the Wilmour Motors Ford car dealership in Maffra have been found after a burglary last month, with investigations continuing.

Police and the dealership confirmed the burglary occurred on the morning of Friday, April 21, with the alleged offenders taking three cars.

Wilmour Motors Director, John Seymour told the Gippsland Times that all three stolen vehicles were found within three days, and said the situation was very disappointing.

“This hasn’t happened before. It’s just the world we live in, unfortunately,” he said.

Three Fords were taken. One was found in Sale, and another is understood to have been found elsewhere in Victoria. The third car is understood to have been found in Queensland.

Two of the cars didn’t suffer major damage, but Mr Seymour said one vehicle was “burnt out”.

The dealership’s doors are believed to have been left open after the break-in, however the overall damage to the premises were minor.

“It’s not too much damage and it’s covered by insurance,” Mr Seymour said.

“You can expect this to happen anywhere. I hope it doesn’t happen again. We’re looking at new security arrangements, like cameras.”

In a statement to the Gippsland Times, Victoria Police confirmed the Wellington Crime Investigation Unit detectives are “investigating a burglary at a car dealership in Maffra on 21 April.”

“It’s understood offenders have gained entry to the business on Johnstone [sic] Street about 5.20am,” Victoria Police said.

“Officers have been told the offenders stole three vehicles and fled the scene.

“An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
