FIRE crews were on the scene at the United petrol station north of Sale on Friday, August 4, responding to a gas leak.

It is believed that the leak emerged from a Toyota Landcruiser parked at the site, with the incident reported to emergency services around 1.45pm.

Four Country Fire Authority (CFA) vehicles from Sale, Trafalgar and Stratford brigades responded.

Crews donning breathing apparatus gear isolated the gas line and performed a gas flare-off to drain the vehicle’s gas cylinder.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

Traffic was diverted during the flare-off, with the incident deemed under control at 2.10pm and the scene declared safe at 5.52pm.
