Newry driver intercepted
At approximately 9.15pm on Wednesday, March 13, Maffra Police intercepted a White Mitsubishi Utility in Newry which was driven by a 55-year-old Newry male.
A preliminary breath test was conducted on the male which returned a positive result. An evidentiary breath test was then conducted which police allege returned a positive result “almost three times the legal limit”.
Police say further investigations revealed the male was also unlicensed, due to having his driver’s licence cancelled and disqualified previously for a drink driving offence.
The male will be summonsed to appear at court at a later date. Maffra Police stated, “This sort of behaviour on our roads will not be tolerated.”
