Cowwarr Weir damaged

POLICE are investigating about $3000 worth of damage at Cowwarr Weir.

Heyfield Police are investigating multiple instances of damage that occurred at the popular local swimming spot between April 13 and April 20, 2024.

It is alleged offenders attended and drove over the bollards and street signs within the weir area, causing significant damage.

CCTV cameras are installed and Southern Rural Water are taking a hard stance on the ongoing damages to their property.

Police are appealing for anyone with further information to assist with their enquiries.

You can make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers or contact the Heyfield Police Station on (03) 5148 2202.

The Herald Sun reported that if the vandalism was to continue, police speculate it is possible Southern Rural Water could close the swimming hole to the public. However, Southern Rural Water confirmed it would not be closing the weir.
