Have you seen this speeding motorcyclist?

MAFFRA Police are seeking public assistance to identify a speeding motorcyclist.

On Sunday, August 25, about 5.30pm, police claim they observed a small blue unregistered motorcycle travelling at speed, north along Powerscourt St, Maffra.

A short time later, police located the motorcycle laying on the ground in the floodway between Davis St and Cameron Court, with the male rider running from the bike towards Cameron Court.

While the motorcycle was impounded by police for 30 days, the male rider is yet to be located and identified. He was described as tall, thin build, was wearing a black hoodie, grey track pants and possibly tan work boots and a yellow helmet.

Anyone with information has been asked to phone Maffra Police on 5147 1026.

 

120km/h in Kilmany roadwork zone

ON Tuesday about 3.45pm, Wellington Highway Patrol claimed to have observed a grey-coloured Ford Ranger travelling at a fast speed in a westerly direction along the Princes Highway at Fulham.

The vehicle was observed to be overtaking a number of other vehicles travelling in the same direction.

Police driving behind the speeding vehicle in a fully marked Highway Patrol car and checked the speed at 120 kilometres.

Police said this impound in Kilmany was a timely reminder to drive to the speed limit that is posted, with speed reduced through roadworks areas for the safety of everyone.

The vehicle continued at 120km/h through the 60km/h roadwork zone at Kilmany, despite passing five speed signs and the police following directly behind, it was alleged.

When the vehicle was intercepted, a 36-year-old male from Longford stated he had cruise control on. When asked what he had the cruise control set to, police claim he stated “I have no idea”.

The vehicle was impounded for 30 days, while the male will be summonsed to court for speed related offences.

Unlicenced driver’s Ford Falcon impounded in Maffra

ON Wednesday, August 28, Maffra Police observed a silver Ford Falcon sedan driving in Cameron Court.

The Ford was intercepted and the driver was found to be unlicensed and the vehicle was unregistered and unroadworthy. The vehicle was impounded for a period of 30 days and the driver will be summonsed to appear at court at a later date.

This Ford Falcon was impounded in Maffra.

Hoon driving through Heyfield

A 51-YEAR-old Heyfield man is facing a number of charges following an incident in Heyfield around 9.30am on Monday.

It is alleged the male was driving erratically in the Heyfield CBD and engaging in hoon driving behaviours, including performing burnouts and losing traction.

A Heyfield man is facing charges for alleged hoon driving behind the wheel of this vehicle.

The male was arrested in a nearby street a short time later and will be charged on summons with a number of offences, including reckless conduct endangering persons, failing to have full control of vehicle, offensive behaviour, assaulting and resisting police. The male’s vehicle was impounded and he will have to pay costs before the vehicle will be released.

Search for Webb

POLICE are appealing for public assistance to help locate Jobey Webb.

Warrants were issued after the 43-year-old man of no fixed address failed to appear at court in relation to drug trafficking and drug driving offences.

He is known to frequent the East Gippsland and Wellington areas as well as the south coast of New South Wales.

Webb was described as Caucasian with a tanned complexion, 178 centimetres tall with short brown hair, hazel eyes and a solid build.

Investigators have released an image of Webb in the hope someone may be able to provide information on his current whereabouts.

Drink driver loses licence and car

TRARALGON Police were left speechless after a driver allegedly returned a breath alcohol concentration nearly six times the legal limit on Friday, August 16.

The 43-year-old Traralgon woman was located by police about 7.30pm in her vehicle on Traralgon-Maffra Rd, after numerous calls to 000 about her erratic driving.

The driver returned a BAC reading of 0.296, resulting in an immediate licence suspension, and her car impounded for 30 days. The woman will be summonsed to court at a later date.
