Our politicians ‘playing games’ on climate

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

SCOTT Morrison is contemplating holding a royal commission on the bushfire crisis.

This will be used as a delaying tactic to take any action on climate change.

“We will have to wait for the report before we make any policy changes.”

Blind Freddie can see that the bushfire crisis is due to the drying out of Australia and ever-increasing hot weather – all predicted by scientists decades ago.

Our prime minister is playing a cynical game bowing to the fossil fuel lobby and to the conservative right wing of the Liberal Party.

Australia matters on the world scene – just look at the widespread demonstrations held in many countries about Australia’s tardy climate policy.

This demonstrates that Australia counts and should be providing leadership on the world stage – sadly, a quality lacking in our present government.
