Sale consolidates second spot

SALE pulled ahead of Maffra in second spot on the East Gippsland women’s hockey ladder with a 3-0 win.

Sarah Boag, Sasha Ferguson and Geni Thompson scored for the visitor.

Top team Swan Reach remains undefeated following its 2-0 victory over Orbost in a competitive match. Sarah Whitechurch scored both goals for the victor.

Nagle is safe in fourth position after a 3-0 win over Bairnsdale. Goals were scored by Paula ONeill, Amanda Stewart and KCey Rykers.

SALE kept the pressure on Bairnsdale for fourth spot on the open ladder with a solid 4-0 win over Maffra.

Female players Andie Christie and Geni Thompson scored two goals each for Sale.

Top-placed Swan Reach had to fight hard for its 3-1 win over third-placed Orbost. Jon Knight scored two goals for Swan Reach, and David Tong one, while Brendan Coulton scored for Orbost.

Second-placed Nagle defeated fourth-placed Bairnsdale 5-0. Jack Parwata and Bryan Smith scored two goals each, while Charles Newcommen scored once.

WELLINGTON had the bye.

ON Saturday, Maffra will host Orbost, Nagle travels to Sale and Swan Reach hosts Wellington. Bairnsdale will have the bye.
