Top two clash this Sunday

SALE United will head to Churchill for the Gippsland Soccer League top of the table clash this Sunday.

Undefeated Churchill United secured its fifth GSL championship last weekend after coming from a goal down to defeat Moe United 2-1.

Fittingly the Rams secured the title against the Red Devils, who last year overcame an eight-point deficit with three rounds to play to claim the championship.

The Rams hold a 10-point lead on top from Sale, which had the bye last weekend. The Rams will be looking to claim the premiership during the finals.

Moe’s loss pushed it down to fifth spot following victories to Fortuna and Falcons.

Fortuna moved into third place with a 1-0 win over Morwell Pegasus, while Falcons thumped Tyers 11-2 with Jesse Kennedy scoring seven goals.

Traralgon City sits comfortably in sixth place after a 4-1 win over local rival Olympians.

Newborough-Yallourn United defeated Monash 2-1.

In other games this Sunday, Falcons will host Newborough-Yallourn, Monash will host Fortuna, Tyers heads to Traralgon to meet Olympians and Moe is at home to Pegasus. Traralgon City will have the bye.
