THE Maffra Kings are one of only two section one sides to be undefeated after two rounds of Wellington tennis.
The Kings defeated another round one winner Seaspray, 63 games to 50. The visitors won seven of the nine sets played.
Mick Luke, Will Runciman and Julie Foat led the way for the Kings, each winning three doubles matches.
The closest match was between Will and Kaylene Runciman and Seaspray’s Andrew Olijnyk and Jo Mactier, with the Maffra pair winning in a tribreak, nine games to eight.
THE other undefeated team is Sale X Factor, only because of a first round bye and a forfeit from the Maffra Queens last weekend. The Sale side was awarded a 72 games to love victory.
THE Heyfield Outta Control Balls defeated the Maffra Aces after a tight contest. Heyfield won five sets to four, and 63 games to 57.
Heyfield’s Lynne Van Doeselaar and Mikayla Burton combined to defeat Maffra’s Jill McAnulty and Adelle O’Doherty nine games to seven.
A tie-break was needed to decide the rubber between Maffra’s Jake Weir and Natalie Allman and Heyfield’s Van Doeselaar and David Taylor with the former claiming victory.
SALE Big Brother had the bye.
ON Saturday, Heyfield will host Seaspray, Big Brother and X Factor will meet in a Sale derby, while there will be a Maffra derby between the Queens and Aces. The Maffra Kings will have the bye.
