SALE United proved too strong for Tyers, winning the Gippsland Soccer League encounter 9-1.

On Sunday at home, the Swans were on their way to victory with a 4-0 first half before adding five in the second.

Tommy Nguyen scored four goals, taking his season tally to 26, while Kristian Phillips scored twice, with a goal each from Ash Ross, Nathi Khamchom and Robbie Stephen.

Jake Budija scored a goal for the visitors in the second half.

The Swans remain four points behind ladder leader Falcons, but ahead of third-placed Moe United on goal difference.

FALCONS defeated fourth-placed Newborough-Yallourn United 2-0 away.

MOE United also recorded a 2-0 away victory, against local rival Monash.

CHURCHILL United won its first game in three weeks, defeating fifth-placed Olympians 2-1 at home.

TRAFALGAR Victory recorded its first win since returning from the South Gippsland competition, coming from 2-1 down at half-time to defeat East Gippsland United 3-2.

MUYIWA and Kehinde Aliyu both scored hat-tricks as Traralgon City thumped Morwell Pegasus 12-2.

FORTUNA had the bye.

THIS Sunday, Sale United will host seventh-placed Churchill. When the team met in round four, the Swans won 2-0 at Churchill.

In other matches, Falcons will welcome Traralgon City, Monash will host Olympians, Trafalgar will head to Moe, Morwell Pegasus will take on Fortuna, and Newborough-Yallourn will travel to East Gippsland.
