THE North Gippsland preliminary round of the men’s state bowls triples was played at Heyfield on Sunday.

After quarter-final bye, Heyfield combination Barry Anderson, Noel Menner and Rod Sherrin got off to a slow start in the semi-finals, trailing Eppelstun, Kennedy and Higgins 9-0 after three ends before fighting back to lead by one shot going into the 17th end. The Heyfield team dropped a costly four on that end before going down 19-14.
In the other semi, there was a convincing win for Sceney, Chalmer and Partridge over Carmichael, Young and Morris 21-10.

THE Gippsland region women’s and men’s over 60 pairs will be played tomorrow at Lakes Entrance, composite pair Jan Morton and Marg Sceney and Heyfield’s Kerry Sutherland and Barry Anderson representing North Gippsland.
