History repeats in juniors

BUNDALAGUAH and Stratford successfully defended their Sale-Maffra junior cricket premierships on Monday.

Bundalaguah upset the previously undefeated Collegians to claim the under 16s title, while Stratford defeated Maffra Red in the under 14s.

IN the under 16s at the College Oval in Sale, Bundalaguah scored 9-161, with player of match Jake Wynd not out on 52. Dean Devisser scored 26.

Kelly Griffiths took 3-26 for Collegians, with two wickets each for Tom Morrison, Noah Hurley and Taylen Griffiths.

College was bowled out for 106, with Nathan Whitford claiming 3-15 from nine overs, while Josh Lenehan took two wickets.

Jed Malone gave the chase a solid start, scoring 24. Morrison continued the charge, but was dismissed off Whitford’s bowling for 46, with Collegians only able to add 18 runs.

STRATFORD completed an undefeated season in the under 14s grand final at the Cameron Sporting Complex in Maffra.

Ethan Aurisch and Jacob Van Zeist claimed three wickets, and Adam Russell two, each as Maffra Red was bowled out for 95. Lachlan Rowley top-scored for the Eagles on 28.

The Redbacks passed Maffra’s score with four wickets in hand. Kane Russell retired on 35 and Adam Russell was 33 not out.
