Awesome autumn racing

SALE Turf Club’s Friday meet was held in ideal autumn racing conditions.

Riding honours were shared by Chelsea MacFarlane and Michael Poy, who completed winning doubles.

MacFarlane won the first race on Wild Sea, trained at Cranbourne by Michael Kent, and completed her double in race eight, on local galloper Stanborough, trained at Sale by Damien Walkley and his wife Debbie.

Stanborough is a 10-year-old gelding, and has had 82 starts for 11 wins and 18 placings, and it is a tribute to Damien and Debbie’s training skills they have kept the horse in great shape, and still winning races.

Atomic Charge, ridden by Poy, won the race two maiden plate, and Sekali, ridden by Jake Noonan, won race three.

Race four, the class one handicap, was won by La Renarde, trained by John Sadler at Caulfield, and ridden by Nikita Berriman. The four-year-old mare was coming off three placings in a row at Moe, Werribee, and Terang.

Rushard, ridden by Brian Werner, coming off a last start second at Sale, won race five, the benchmark 58 handicap.

Poy completed his winning double on Infernal in race six, the fillies and mares benchmark 58 handicap.

A last start winner at Wangaratta, the Mornington-trained Pamando, ridden by Daniel Stackhouse, won race seven, the benchmark 58 handicap.

The next race meeting at Greenwattle will be on Wednesday, April 4.
