Redbacks in Vic squad

STRATFORD players Jack Rietschel and Jack Wrigglesworth have been named in the Victorian squad to compete at the Australian Country Cricket Championships.

Rietschel is currently in his fourth season captaining the Stratford first grade team, and is this season skipper of the Sale-Maffra representative team. The left arm orthodox spinner is the leading wicket-taker in first grade this season.

Wrigglesworth joined the Redbacks this season after helping Boisdale-Briagolong win its first premiership last season.

The event will be held in Toowoomba, Queensland, from January 3 to 11.

The championships will include teams from each mainland state and the ACT, playing twenty20 and one-day formats.

Also among the 14-man Victorian squad is Lee Stockdale, from Traralgon club Ex-Students, who was named vice-captain. Stockdale was in the Victorian squad which made this year’ one-day final in Shepparton, and was named in the Australian Country XII. The 2020 squad also includes former South Australia first class player Sam Miller.

The Victorian men’s team will again be coached by Mark Ridgway, former first-class player with Tasmania and current Victorian Sheffield Shield and one-day team selector.
