Stars arrive in Rosedale

A TASTE of the Big Bash League cricket came to Rosedale on Saturday.

Melbourne Stars squad members Clint Hinchcliffe and Lance Morris visited the Rosedale Recreation Reserve ahead of the Stars’ match against the Hobart Hurricanes this Sunday at Moe.

Hinchcliffe and Morris proved to be interested spectators as Rosedale-Kilmany’s third and fourth grade sides played against Nambrok and Collegians respectively, and interacted with local children.

The BBL returns to Moe this Sunday, when the Melbourne Stars play the Hobart Hurricanes.

The match at Ted Summerton Reserve follows the first one last season, when the Stars defeated the Adelaide Strikers by 44 runs in front of more than 6000 fans.

Led by captain Glenn Maxell, the Stars have a strong line-up, including South African pace bowler Dale Steyn, and Australian international players Nic Maddinson, Marcus Stoinis, Peter Handscomb, Hilton Cartwright and Nathan Coulter-Nile.

The Hurricanes also have quality of their own, including James Faulkner, D’Arcy Short and Scott Boland.

Sunday’s match begins at 2.45pm, and will be broadcast on channel 7 and Fox Cricket.
