SALE was no match for Leongatha, going down to the Parrots 61-39 at home in Gippsland League netball on Saturday.

The Magpies remain in ninth place on the ladder, with one win, while the Parrots in second place, a game behind top side Moe.

Goal keeper Mel Johnstone and centre Tori Dessent were Sale’s best players, while Lauren Redpath was strong in defence for the Parrots.

Maffra was too strong for Bairnsdale, winning 56-37 at Bairnsdale City Oval.

The eighth-placed Eagles recorded their third win of the season, led by Eliza Osborn, Emma Allman and Abbie Ross.

Wonthaggi hit a speed bump, out-classed by Moe, 69-33, at Ted Summerton Reserve.

Warragul handed Morwell its third loss in a row. The Gulls were too strong at Western Park, winning 48-31.

Drouin got home in a thriller over Traralgon. The travelling Hawks had their noses in front by three goals when the final whistle was blown, winning 49-46.

A win to the Maroons would have given them some separation from a logjam of team in the middle section of the ladder, but alas they were left to ponder what could have been.
