Wellington Athletic Club athletes Craig Huffer and Rachel O’Brien took out the Maffra Mile at the 132nd Maffra Agricultural Show in front of a large crowd.
In the Men’s Mile, Huffer had a convincing win. Chris Dwyer and Rhylie Stewart battled out for second and third place with Dwyer finishing just in front of Stewart by the narrowest of margins.
In the Women’s Mile, Rachel O’Brien lead from start to finish ahead of Cass Farley, Grace Graafsma and Elly Fleming all hot on her heels, but with 200 metres to go O’Brien cleared away from the pack to have a convincing win.
In the primary school events over 100m the results were:
Up to 8 Years Girls: Ruby Orchard (first), Anastasia Dwyer (second), Maddi Archer (third). Boys: Kobe Hiskins, Ned Elliman, Oscar Stewart.
9-10 Years Girls: Lyla Hiskins, Jess Brewer, Maddi Mizzi.
Boys: Xavier Farley, Fletcher Wynne, Michael Coleman.
11-13 Years Girls: Melina Beanland, Taylah Mizzi, Olivia Sargent.
Boys: Oliver Sullivan, Cruz Duck, Thomas Kanavan.
