Sea Dragon at Golden Beach for Aus Day weekend

FLOTATION Energy’s Seadragon team had a popular stall at the Golden Beach market on Saturday, January 28, coinciding with the annual fishing competition.

Local face painters, Cheeky Cherubs, were a star attraction for the kids and the offshore wind project, Seadragon, drew interest from the local community.

The Seadragon project in Gippsland will be one of the country’s first offshore wind farms.

Topics of discussion were around visual impacts, how far off the coast the company proposes their turbines to be located, environmental concerns, the number and type of jobs that will be created, timing of the project and onshore transmission.

Flotation Energy’s acting Managing Director of Australia, Carolyn Sanders, says the Seadragon team will be engaging with the community at events over the next year.

“At Flotation Energy we are deeply committed to engaging with the community to understand how we can best work together to create an offshore wind development that works for all involved,” she said.

The Golden Beach Australia Day Weekend Surf Fishing Carnival Market Day featured over 30 stalls from locals and family entertainment.
