The inaugural ‘Test Match’ between Sale City Football-Netball Club and Longford Cricket Club was won by the Longford 113 to 112.

Ironically, it was Nathan Thomas, senior coach of Sale-City Football Club, that shone with both bat and ball for the the Lizards, taking 2/15 off three overs.

Austin Bauer made 21 and Lachlan Floyd 20 for the cricket club.

Both sides had the young and not so young on the field; 11-year-old Lachie McMaster opened the bowling for Longford and had the City openers in a spin.

City’s top scorer was Blake Safstrom with 23.

The game was a success for both clubs on and off the ground, for in the past one code did cause some concern for the other.

Any such barriers were eliminated on Friday night and from all reports the Test Match will be an annual event on the Stephenson Park sporting calendar.

The Lizards took home the cup in the battle between the two Stephenson Park tenants.

An added attraction was the youngsters trying their goal kicking skills while the cricket game was in progress.

Perhaps the Lizards could take on Sale City in a football game.
