Gippsland Grammar grade six student Henri Duggan won silver at the School Sport Australia Cross Country Championships held at Yarra Glen Racecourse last week.
Henri teamed with fellow Victorians to place second in the 4×1500 metre relay, and finished 12th in Australia (third Victorian over the line) in the three-kilometre course in 11:19.71 minutes, which was an improvement of more than 30 seconds recorded at the state championships held mid-July.
This is the fourth time Henri has represented Gippsland Grammar and the state at this national event.
Gippsland Grammar head of St Anne’s Campus Jie Van Berkel congratulated the primary school student.
“The school is proud of Henri and his achievements,” he said.
“He has come a long way since he found running. His confidence has skyrocketed, and it’s an absolute privilege watching him grow and become a role model for our younger students.”
