LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
IT is sad to note that the Gippsland Regional Sports Complex concrete floor has once again caused a serious injury.
It is unfair for our local sportspeople to be condemned to either serious injury or a lifetime of suffering because of the unsuitable concrete base at this sports venue.
This surface is certainly not suitable for netball or basketball, and it amazes me that it was even considered at the planning and construction stages.
It is surely time to right the wrong and show some care for our local sporting families.
Something needs to be done urgently to prevent more carnage.
Installation of a suitable timber floor over the existing concrete base is imperative, and must be carried out without delay.
No immediate action on this problem will certainly indicate a lack of care for sportspeople in this area by our local leaders.
