LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
WEARILY I take up my pen again in defence of the endangered species of common sense, rational thought and truth itself.
Last Tuesday Jack McCaughan of Maffra had a letter published (Gippsland Times 21/3) headed ‘ASH blackmail’, in which he makes the statement “like many fellow Gippslanders I am losing patience with the blackmail tactics adopted by ASH” and further mentions bullying, unsustainability and no logs left.
Where he got this mishmash of falsities from is a mystery.
I can only suppose he has been spending too much time on the internet, that bottomless pit of mindless chatter and trivia.
In the first place, ASH has never been the instigator of bullying and lies, but rather the recipient of same, right up to its total destruction.
In the second place, I would suggest that many Gippslanders are losing, or have lost patience with the blackmail, bullying and lies of the city-based Greens.
They are more concerned that the cessation of logging will result in larger and more destructive bushfires and the subsequent loss of lives, stock and property.
If anyone is interested in the actual facts pertaining to the history of the ASH attack, Peter Hill’s opinion piece will outline much better than I can, what has really happened.
I recommend all Gippslanders read it.
