Use Sale College campus for TAFE

LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

IF Sale College does relocate to become a one campus school on Guthridge Parade, the existing building on the corner of York and Macalister Sts could be re-purposed to house TAFE.

There would be many advantages, including the economic boost to local businesses which would benefit from the TAFE staff and students’ business, the existing building would not go to waste and the TAFE would be located in a more accessible part of town.

This could mean more subjects being offered because of increased enrolments from a more accessible location.

There has been a large amount of money spent on Sale’s infrastructure in recent years including a new police station, expansion at the RAAF base to house the new training facility, the redevelopment of the Port of Sale precinct including the skate park and a new specialist school — all supporting the future growth of Sale.

It is well past time for the future of the TAFE to settled.
