Kevin would be proud

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

The Hogan family should be so proud from the youngest grandchild to the oldest family member.

His farewell Mass and the numbers that attended did Kevin Hogan proud.

I remember as a young junior/senior cricketer running to the ABC on a Saturday evening to give Kevin our scores and also watching my Dad and Kevin do battle on the cricket ground.

What memories! It was exciting and memorable.

I was fortunate and lucky to have been interviewed by Kevin at the ABC and he was genuinely interested in what I had achieved in my sporting career and that was the care with every local sports person who graced his airways.

The eulogies that were delivered by his sons were magnificent. We the audience should have had to pay an admission price to hear such quality speeches.

Both the quality of the speakers and the man they spoke about were of the highest level. Better than most sportsman nights.

My closest connection to this family has been to Damien, Nancy and their children who I was lucky enough to teach.

Damien you did your Dad proud, as you always have, and will continue to do.

The funeral of this legend was a reflection of faith, sport, community and what it meant to be a small part of something.

To all the Hogan family, you did your Dad proud and I was so proud and privileged to be a part of it.
