THE Heyfield Wetlands are set for some improvement works.
Heyfield Racecourse Reserve committee of management representative Michael Kube said the group would receive $4795 through the state government’s Communities for Nature funding program to revegetate native species and remove weeds such as blackberries.
“All funding received will be used to purchase trees and shrubs, as well as sprays and plastic guards to protect the new plantings,” he said.
Gippsland East MLA Tim Bull said it was pleasing to see the committee planned to continue to involve school children in the program, which would help another generation to understand the need to protect the local environment.
“The Communities for Nature grants program supports local community groups by providing funding to complete on-ground works to conserve and enhance our local environment,” he said.
