SUNRISE surprise! A Sale man won a life-changing $1.7 million in last weekend’s TattsLotto.
Their winning 50-game QuickPick was purchased at Raymond Street Lotto.
Store Manager, Angela Harry said all the staff are celebrating the win.
“It’s all very exciting really, the lottery sells a dream and for most venues that’s the most they do, but we have actually sold the dream,” she said.
“Even though we’re not the winner we feel like we are because we sold it in the shop.”
The winning ticket was unregistered, so staff didn’t know who the winner was, only that is was one of a thousand tickets purchased on Saturday.
Store co-owner Alan Mitrevski said this had created friendly rivalry among the staff.
“I like to say ‘I sold it’ but I really have no idea, we have a bit of fun with it,” he said.
“We’re just very pleased it was sold at our shop.”
The store had its own mini-winnings, with a package from TattsLotto containing a bottle of wine.
The anonymous duo discovered the winning ticket on the weekend.
According to TattsLotto, the victory woke up the man’s wife.
“He came in at 6.10am on Sunday morning and woke me up in a frenzy,” she shared.
“He told me we had won $1.7 million, but he thought it was some sort of scam. I also thought he was joking but then we looked into it together and realised it was real.”
The winning husband told TattsLotto the money was life changing.
“How do we feel? Incredibly awesome! On top of the world!”
With an extra $1.7 million in their bank account, the wife said she was eager to relax for years to come.
“Honestly, we don’t know exactly what we want to do with the prize, but we look forward to living life with a bit of ease. We’ve worked hard our whole lives,” she said.
“We keep thinking of things to do but would like to be realistic and make sensible decisions.”
There were three Division 1 winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4401 – two in Victoria and one in New South Wales.
The 2023 Lott’s Division 1 winning tally has now reached 303, including 101 won by Tatts customers.
