OUTSTANDING staff and students from local Catholic schools were recognised for their commitment to Catholic Education across the Diocese of Sale recently.
A Thanksgiving Mass was held on Wednesday, May 22 at St Mary’s Cathedral Sale, followed by an awards presentation at Catholic College Sale to recognise staff and students from Catholic schools in the Eastern end of the Diocese.
Director of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Sale, Paul Velten, congratulated award recipients for the wonderful work they do.
“In all, 25 people from Catholic schools across the Diocese of Sale received awards including two staff members from St Mary’s Primary School, Sale,” he said.
“We are proud to have such exceptional individuals in Catholic schools across the Diocese and are grateful for their leadership, service, and excellence.
Molly Semmens and Terryn Burley, from St Mary’s Primary School, Sale, each received a Daniel Ahern Bursary. This prestigious award provides financial support to non-teaching staff currently pursuing teacher education studies within the Diocese of Sale.
Molly, a former student of St Mary’s, has seamlessly transitioned into a valued staff member. Her commitment extends to all aspects of teaching, learning, and school life. Molly’s strong connection with the school and parish community, both professionally and personally, is evident through her personal and family’s involvement. She looks forward to completing her study to become a teacher in a Catholic school.
Terryn Burley, an experienced Education Support Officer at St Mary’s, is deeply passionate about educating children.
Currently studying to become a teacher, Terryn’s positive outlook and exceptional qualities mark her as an ideal future educator.
Her contributions extend beyond the professional realm; she actively participates as a staff member and parent, enriching the St Mary’s school and parish community.
The Diocese of Sale covers 38 Catholic primary schools and seven Catholic secondary schools in a geographic area that spans from Melbourne’s outer south-eastern suburbs from Narre Warren and Cranbourne, to Phillip Island, and right throughout Gippsland to Orbost in the east.
