CATHOLIC College Sale are thrilled about the exceptional achievements of Ruby Fisher (DUX 2023), who has been honoured with the prestigious Premier’s VCE Award for her outstanding academic performance in 2023.
Ruby’s unwavering commitment to excellence and scholarly prowess has earned her this distinguished accolade in Psychology.
Psychology teacher, Andrea Simm said, “Ruby approached her Psychology studies with a diligent and focused determination that allowed her natural aptitude and intelligence to shine through”.
“Ruby knew that she wanted to study medicine at university and to achieve this goal, she approached her studies with resolute dedication. She asked pertinent questions, offered her unique point of view and sought feedback so as to consistently improve her understanding.
“Her study score of 50 placed her in the top nine students in a state cohort of 18,745 Psychology students in 2023. Ruby’s remarkable result is a testament to her exceptional work ethic and attitude. She is a role model for rural students to understand that such achievements are possible.”
Ruby’s parents Di Fisher and Damon Brewer are bursting with pride with Ruby’s academic achievements and her sheer determination to pursue her dreams.
“Ruby has always been a self-motivated learner and is strongly committed and connected to her community,” Di said.
“We thank everyone who has played a part in supporting and developing Ruby into the young woman she has become and hope that they also celebrate their role in her achievements.
“Ruby has previously gained a Queen’s Scout Award during her time with Sale Scout Association and a C Grade Badge accreditation with Sale Netball Association.
“These experiences have taught her that she can achieve anything she sets her mind to. We strongly believe this will continue throughout her life in all the choices she makes.”
Ruby said she was grateful for the support of her family and friends, “including and especially my teacher Ms Andrea Simm”.
“This recognition is pretty unreal, it shows you can do anything that you put your mind to,” Ruby said.
The Premier’s VCE Awards celebrates the top-performing students in the state.
This year, Ruby stands among 310 of Victoria’s top performing students, including three international students, six students who completed the VCE Vocational Major program with distinction, and 23 Top All-Round VCE High Achievers who achieved study scores of 46 or higher out of 50 in at least five VCE subjects.
A momentous occasion, Ruby joins Sebastian Moore (Class of 2022) as the second student from Catholic College Sale to receive this prestigious honour.
“The entire Catholic College Sale community is extremely proud of Ruby, and we would like to congratulate her on being the recipient of such a prestigious award,” Deputy Principal Cindy Foat said.
“Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine at Monash University, Ruby’s journey continues to be one of inspiration and promise. We wish her continued success in all her future endeavours.”
