POLICE are warning drivers to be alert after a serious vehicle collision on the Princes Highway at 7.24pm on Thursday night.

A female driver in her 20s turning onto the Princes Highway from Dawson St failed to give way and was struck by a south-bound travelling vehicle.

She was admitted to Central Gippsland Health Service, Sale, with non life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, a man in his late 20s, was taken to hospital for observation and later released.

The female driver will be issued with an infringement notice.

SALE CIU is investigating the use of counterfeit $50 notes at Sale businesses in recent days.

Police said five Sale businesses had reported the use of fake $50 notes in their stores since Friday.

Local business owners should look out for counterfeit notes and report any to Sale police by phoning 5143 5000.

Maffra police are investigating the theft of a blue tri-axle trailer in Landy St, Maffra, on Sunday night.

The 4.27 metre by two metre trailer was parked on the nature strip across the road from the owner’s house.
