Hydroponic drug house in Yarram

DETECTIVES have arrested two people after allegedly discovering 293 cannabis plants at a house in Yarram on Friday morning.

As part of an ongoing investigation, by members from Wellington and Wonthaggi crime investigation units and Yarram uniform officers, a search warrant was executed at a Dougherty St house about 10.50am.

Police allegedly found a sophisticated hydroponic set-up spread throughout the house, locating cannabis plants in various stages of growth.

A 25-year-old Yarram woman, My Hanh Tong, and 30-year-old man, Bich Nguyen, of no fixed address, were arrested at the scene and have been charged with cultivate and trafficking a large commercial quantity of a drug of dependence, possessing a large commercial quantity of a drug of dependence and theft of electricity.

The pair was remanded in custody to appear at the Latrobe Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

A LOCAL man was charged with cultivating cannabis after Yarram police executed a search warrant at a property in Yarram on Friday.

Police found 10 cannabis plants at the property.
