HEAVY rain during the weekend has resulted in minor flooding, road closures and school bus disruptions, and showers are set to continue for most of the week.
The Bureau of Meteorology at East Sale measured just over 100mm of rain between Friday and 9am Monday morning.
Road closures on Monday included the Traralgon-Maffra Rd and Bengworden Rd, and people travelling throughout Gippsland are advised to monitor alerts.vicroads.vic.gov.au for up to date information about road closures.
The SES on Monday issued moderate flood warnings for the Thomson River and a flood watch was issued for East Gippsland, including the Mitchell, Tambo, Snowy, Cann and Genoa rivers and the Gippsland Lakes.
People living near rivers and lakes should monitor the SES website, www.ses.vic.gov.au/warnings, for current information regarding warnings.
Southern Rural Water advised early yesterday morning that it was releasing 6407 megalitres a day from Cowwarr Weir.
The rain has made driving conditions hazardous, and police have urged motorists to take care and drive to road conditions.
Drivers are also being urged not to attempt to drive through flood waters.
