Bakery break-in

ROSEDALE police are investigating a burglary at Rosedale Bakery that happened on Tuesday about 8.30pm.

Police said about $5000 of damage was caused during the break-in and believe at least two males were involved in the burglary. People who witnessed any suspicious activity are urged to phone Rosedale police on 5199 2222.

POLICE are investigating a single vehicle collision at Licola that happened about 6.45am on Sunday.

Police allege the vehicle was travelling south towards Heyfield when it veered off the road and hit a tree.

The driver was uninjured, but police said the passenger was flown to a Melbourne hospital with non life-threatening leg injures. The incident is under investigation.

THE latest statistics released last week showed crime in the Wellington region was down 5.7 per cent in 2014.

The decrease goes against the trend throughout the rest of the state with an overall increase in crime of 4.3 per cent. Drug offences increased by 12.9 per cent across Victoria, while family violence crimes state-wide increased 8.2 per cent from 2013. Wellington’s neighbouring region the Latrobe Valley saw a 13.4 per cent jump in recorded offences.

It also recorded 15,721.5 offences per 100,000 residents ranking it second in the state behind only Melbourne CBD.
