POLICE are seeking information after offenders attempted to haul away an ATM from the United Service Station in Raglan St, Sale on Saturday morning.
Police said the offenders gained access to the building about 4.45am and launched a botched attempt to tow the ATM.
The equipment they used failed, and the thieves left empty handed.
The area was cordoned off as police conducted a crime scene examination and they are examining CCTV footage.
Police believe a utility with an aluminium tray and a blue or dark coloured cab was used and are seeking information from people who saw the vehicle in the area at that time.

PEOPLE using storage units are being advised to make sure their security is up to scratch following a series of burglaries in Sale targeting storage units.
Police said storage units had been targeted by thieves in the past two weeks.
Sale CIU is advising people to make sure they know what is inside units, note serial numbers and engrave or mark items, to help them identify stolen property.
