Man with knives subdued

A MAN in his mid-30s brandishing knives at police was subdued with capsicum foam in Maffra on Friday morning.

Maffra and Sale police were called to a Maffra address following reports of a man threatening to harm himself.

The man was eventually taken to hospital for psychiatric assessment and police said their investigation was ongoing.

A CONFRONTATION between two men in Knight St, Maffra, about 9pm Saturday led to one being hospitalised.

Police said a 32-year-old man armed with a hammer was overpowered by an 18-year-old during the confrontation.

The 32-year-old lost consciousness and was taken to hospital with head injuries, but police said he was released the following day.
