A MAFFRA man appeared in Sale Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday accused of armed robbery while on bail.
Peter East, aged 39, and two accomplices, allegedly stole $1800 and an unknown quantity of cigarettes from a convenience store in Collingwood.
One man pointed a gun at the shopkeeper and another used a dumbbell to knock him unconscious, resulting in bleeding on the victim’s brain.
The robbery taskforce used CCTV and forensic evidence to find two of the men, and investigations are continuing.
It was alleged Mr East was also involved in deception, using a stolen bank card at Maffra supermarkets in January.
Mr East was remanded in custody.
He asked the court for strict bail conditions to enable him sort out his affairs before being remanded in custody, but this was denied, the magistrate citing his history of violence and potential to re-offend.
He will appear again in court at a later date.
