A SALE man who pleaded guilty in Sale Magistrates’ Court to assault on Tuesday was told by the magistrate the community was sick of incidents like this one, and it was lucky the victim was not injured.
The man, aged in his 20s, allegedly punched another man in the head at the Club Hotel, Sale, early last year.
The court was told the man asked the victim if he was hassling a female friend, before punching him without provocation, but the offender claims he has no recollection of the incident.
The man was ordered to pay $600 to the court fund for the disadvantaged, and made an undertaking to be of good behaviour for a year. No conviction was recorded.
The magistrate told the offender the penalties for his behaviour could have been greater, but noted he had sought counselling, pleaded guilty and had shown genuine remorse.
