Warrant issued following Sale hit-run

A WARRANT has been issued for John Allen Reid in relation to an alleged hit-run incident in Sale last Wednesday morning.

Police said three cyclists were riding along Gibsons Rd in Sale when the rear rider was struck by the car and knocked to the ground about 5.25am.

The second rider was then hit, and reportedly struck the bonnet and windscreen before being thrown into the rear of a parked car.

A witness reported the offending driver slowed briefly at the scene before taking off.

Police found the car in Sale late Wednesday night.

The injured cyclists, a 33-year-old Sale man and 30-year-old Stratford man, were both taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The third cyclist was uninjured.

Reid, aged 38, was last seen in Warrnambool about 8.30am Friday riding a black and red 2015 Honda CB500 motorcycle, registration 1S-4YC.

He was wearing a black full face helmet, black and grey DriRider jacket, dark blue tracksuit pants and bright-coloured runners.

He is known to frequent the Sale and Warrnambool areas, but may have travelled interstate.

Police have released images of Reid and of a motorcycle similar to the one he was last seen riding.

Wellington Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public help to help find him.
