AN electrical fault has been blamed for widespread power outage in Sale on Tuesday afternoon.
AusNet Services corporate relations manager Jonathon Geddes said about 3.15pm on Tuesday, an electrical fault cut or lowered the power supply to about 1300 Sale properties.
“Crews were able to restore the power supply to 960 of those customers within 15 minutes, while repair crews repaired the fault and restored all customers by approximately 6.20pm,” he said.
Some homes and businesses were totally without power for a period of time, while others had partial power.
Police were called to direct traffic at the intersection of Foster and Reeve Sts in Sale as the traffic lights stopped working and several offices were evacuated.
Some properties in east Sale reportedly lost all power from about 5.30pm until 6.30pm.
AusNet Services apologised to affected customers.
