‘Cracks’ ground the Roulettes

RAAF Roulette displays have been cancelled following the discovery of cracks in an Air Force PC-9/A aircraft.

The cracks were found in the nose landing gear folding strut during regular maintenance and engineering reviews.

The RAAF is undertaking an engineering review of the PC-9/A fleet, which supports flying training and the Roulettes, and is assessing the implications of the cracks.

As a precautionary measure, each PC-9/A will undergo an additional engineering review and repairs, before returning to normal flying activities.

An Air Force spokesperson said aircraft were serviced and flown under a strict and controlled airworthiness and safety system.

As the aircraft are reviewed and return to flying, Roulette displays will resume.
