Man fined over Glenmaggie rubbish dumping

A HEYFIELD man has been fined for dumping rubbish in the Glenmaggie Nature Conservation Reserve, between Heyfield and Seaton, earlier this month.

The man was investigated for depositing rubbish without authority, and admitted to the offence.

A $303 fine was imposed and the man was ordered to remove the rubbish within seven days.

Parks Victoria’s regional enforcement coordinator Martin Downs said there were serious penalties, including prosecution resulting in convictions, imposed by the courts for such offences.

“The onus is with the householder to ensure that their rubbish is disposed of appropriately, even if it is given to another person to do so,” Mr Downs said.

People who see illegal rubbish dumping or suspicious activity in parks or reserves are urged to phone Parks Victoria on 13 19 63 or local police.
