Businesses evacuated after gas leak in Sale

A GAS leak in Sale on Friday caused an evacuation of Raymond St businesses from Stawell to Macarthur Sts.

Contractors working on a Desailly St address made contact with a gas supply line, with CFA responding to several reports of a strong smell of gas in the area.

Police were first on the scene at 9am, to evacuate employees from Raymond St shops as a precaution.

The pipe was capped to stop the leak, while CFA brigade members checked workplaces for residual gas, before employees returned to work at 11am.
