NSW bike impounded in Rosedale

A MAN from New South Wales has had his motorcycle impounded after allegedly drink driving on the way home from the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island on Monday morning.

As part of Operation Motosafe, Highway Patrol members set up a preliminary breath testing site on the Princes Highway at Rosedale to ensure motorists travelling home from the Grand Prix arrived home safely.

A 38-year-old man allegedly returned a blood alcohol content reading of 0.102 per cent about 10.20am. The male rider said he was riding home to Wollongong.

The breath testing site in Rosedale was set up about 174 kilometres from Phillip Island.

His bike was immediately impounded at a cost of $877 and he is expected to be charged on summons for drink driving.
