Woman airlifted

A 20-YEAR-old woman was flown to Melbourne with critical head injuries after a car accident near Carrajung early Monday morning.

While driving along the Carrajung-Woodside Rd about 5.30am the woman swerved to avoid a kangaroo. She lost control of the car, which careered down an embankment before hitting a tree.

MAFFRA police have been investigating following an alleged collision in Cedarwood Drive, Maffra, last Tuesday evening. Police allege a 24-year-old Maffra motorist collided with another vehicle before leaving the scene.

The male and his vehicle were found in a nearby street a short time after the collision.

The driver was taken to the Maffra police station for a breath test, where police allege his alcohol reading was 0.145. He is expected to be charged on summons for drink driving, careless driving, failing to stop after an accident and breaching an intervention order. His driving licence was immediately suspended.

POLICE are investigating a crash on the Princes Highway east of Stratford on Friday.

A white Ford and a red Kia collided about 1pm.
