Counterfeit $100 and $50 notes are used in the local area

COUNTERFEIT $100 and $50 notes have been used in Wellington police area recently, mostly in the Rosedale area.

Police are asking business owners and employees to be vigilant when accepting any $100 and $50 notes, and to inspect them to confirm they are legal tender.

Business owners and operators are also being urged to check their registers and cash storage for fake notes.

People with information, who find counterfeit currency, or have CCTV relating to the recent passing of the notes in the Rosedale area, are being asked to phone Rosedale police on 5199 2222 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
