AS a city girl with family from Gippsland, I was disappointed by the article headed ‘Calls for duck season to go ahead’.
This tourism and environmental issue is being politicised.

Only two in a thousand Victorians go duck shooting.
Duck numbers were 90 per cent down before this horror summer.
Despite recent rain, it will take years for populations to rebuild.
Why can’t duck shooters buy meat instead, supporting struggling farmers?
There’s empathy for Gippsland, so please encourage our tourism.
But if you sacrifice our waterbirds, we – the 998 in a thousand who don’t shoot ducks – are likely to avoid the killing fields.
